I was impressed with how you have handled the battle so far.

While there are some technical, game flow issues that we still get caught up with after years of playing (waiting too long to send the DM your action, posting actions before they are resolved with DM, etc) that slow us down, I was impressed with how well everyone worked together, and also how tough you have become.

This demon is a serious badass. Yet Thaylias and Celene are still able to tank him while Allie uses her legerdemain (silencing in front and then behiond him, making a large area of silence was genius!) and the casters blast down his hit points.

The fire resisitance and evasion skills some of you have, coupled with the spell resistance from Celene and oak's spell, all clearly made a sure death survivable.

The upcoming round surely meant a massive spell, the summoning of allies or even the teleporting to freedom. Silence means, that won't happen, and he will be forced to engage in melee. While that does not by any means preclude deaths on your part, it certainly puts you in a position where you can use your strengths against him together.

But it also means that YOU can't cast spells at him with verbal components.

After this battle, you will all be exhausted in every sense of the word.

You might want to think about what to do next.

We spellcasters can still cast if we're outside the 20' range of the Silenced area: Allie is well beyond melee range. Kel is really the only spell caster that should be within the bubbles. Celene has a few spells but nothing compared to her melee skills with the Avenger.

If any of the three fighters get too injured, they will have to (or should!) fall back to a point outside the Silenced area so Oakshade can heal, then rejoin the brawl.

I can continue to blast him with cold, as I'm a distance away. We need to take him down fast as he'll be stepping out of that circle soon!

I think departure is a good idea, though Shanti has the means to fully bring herself back to full psionic ability, the other spellcasters need to rest!! My concern is that of course our friendly neighborhood vampires will now know under no uncertain terms that we were there.

Thaylias has taken some good wounds but is still in the fight. He will finally be able to attempt to put his blade skills to full use if he can hold out a couple more rounds.

As far as our actions after the fight; I think we should quickly as possible make our way back to Chisholm's camp, if we can. (Shanti-P)is right, the hosts of the tower surely will be aware of us and I seriously doubt we would want to meet them after this foray. Just my two cents.

Retreat is probably the best option. If we rest inside the tower we will no doubt attract unwanted attention from the other residents, and it will be night time after the rest.

There is the possibility however that new traps or wards may be erected overnight that we'll have to bypass to regain entrance the following day.

Sheesh. sorry folks. The forums have been down this week for me,no I don't know why. Maybe something funky about my provider not connecting with some parts of the country..weird.

As long as Oakshade is probably getting on healing, I agree, assuming we slay the Fiend, then withdrawing is probably our best recourse.

Fortunately, Thurvold does have a Teleport spell that should get everyone back if need be.

For perspective, here's a basic layout of how things are located as I see it, and how Allie positioned the Silence spells.

It appears the devil has not left the rim of the pit. One of the hell hounds was 25 feet away from him between him and the party. It was on that space that the first Silence, 20 ft radius spell was cast.
It left a 5' gap between the pit fiend and the zone of silence.

The 2nd Silence spell was placed 15' behind him, thus covering his square and the 5' gap left by the first spell.

So, before the fiend can again use sound, he has to do one of the following:

    1. Move 20' to either side, left or right.

    2. Advance 26' forward, thus literally overrunning Thaylias' position, and opening himself to attacks of opportunity.

    3. Retreat 16' feet backward, i.e. fall back into the pit on the ground.

    4. Stand his ground and await to engage the fighters in melee combat.
